"Loaves and Fishes? What kind of food is that at a concert?"

History is not, as some might have it, written by the winners.  At least ancient history isn't.  History back then was written by the few people who could write.  Or to put it another way, history was written by teachers. Stories not written down get changed and translation only makes things worse.  Add that to the fact that teachers can't be trusted and I think there's only one possible conclusion.

It's all lies.

So here's my theory.  It's not what definitely did happen, unlike certain sections of society I'm not arrogant enough to claim to know that.  This is a theory. It is the maybe, the possible, perhaps even the likely story of what happened 2000 years ago in a stable and more importantly in the 30 odd years afterwards.

And if nothing else, at least it's shorter than the "official" version.
